Jardín does not sell, rent, or trade your business or personal information. There is no ad business behind this product and no data brokering — full stop.

Adding a street address is your choice. If you add one, it appears on your profile so members can find and visit you; leave it off and no exact address is shown anywhere. Either way, the map only ever places you at an approximate, ZIP-level area — never your exact spot.

On the map, members appear at an approximate, area-level location — never an exact point — so you can find who's nearby without exposing precisely where anyone is. Only your ZIP is ever used for that placement.

We never take your precise location, and we never read it from your device — no GPS, no background tracking, no location history. Anywhere “nearby” or a distance matters, it's your choice and always coarse. You might search by city, or by ZIP — broad areas, never your exact spot. Or, on a map a business chose to show (it's optional, off unless they turn it on), you drop your own pin to check a distance — and you can place it a block off on purpose. A pin you drop stays on your device and is used right there in your browser only to show that distance; it is never sent to us, stored, or logged. Everything about where you are is something you hand over on purpose, at a rough grain — never something we reach out and take.

The only location Jardín ever stores is a coarse “home area” — a ZIP (and its approximate centroid) you optionally set to search nearby. It's never your street and never precise. If you'd rather we hold nothing at all, Settings → “Maps & your location” has a one-tap “Clear my saved area” that wipes it from your account. A pin you drop on a map is never stored in the first place, so there's nothing to clear there — this is the only saved location that exists, and it's yours to remove whenever you like.

In Local you can add a location to a post — by typing an address, or by a one-time capture of your device's current location for that single post. It belongs to that post and nothing else. It's captured once (never a running, background track of where you are), shown as a collapsed map neighbors can choose to open, and it automatically fades once the post's time is up — the post and its location are removed together. We do not store it on your profile, keep a separate copy, build a location history, or reuse it anywhere else in Jardín. Share a spot when it's useful; when the post is gone, so is the location.

Your private messages and chats are yours. We don't route them through any third-party service — not for translation, not for analysis, not for anything. If you'd ever like to read a message in another language, you're free to copy it into a translation app of your choice; that's your call, on your terms, and nothing of yours is quietly shipped off to an outside company to make it happen. Fewer hands on your words is a feature, not a limitation.

Two outside tools touch the map. To place you at your approximate area we send only your ZIP — never your street — to OpenStreetMap's nonprofit geocoder. The map imagery is loaded from a mapping provider that only sees which map tiles are on screen — and because we strip the referrer on those requests, it never even learns which Jardín page you're viewing, only that some visitor loaded map squares for a given area. No account, no business record, no location of yours. Nothing else about you leaves our systems.

After a business is verified, moving it to a new city, state, or ZIP is reviewed by our team before it goes live — this guards against bad actors and misrepresentation. A minor street correction within the same area updates directly.

Businesses go through a verification review before joining, and only verified businesses appear in the network. It's a community of real, vetted local businesses.

Information is protected so a business's details are only visible to those meant to see them. We follow the principle of least exposure throughout the app.

We run checks behind the scenes to keep the network trustworthy. We intentionally don't publish the specifics — that would only help the people we're guarding against.
